The Anatomy of a Strike

Understanding the 10-Stage Combat Engine.

Combat in DDDungeon is not mere chance. Every sword swing, every hurled fireball, and every desperate heal is processed through a strict, 10-stage mathematical pipeline. Master these stages, and you will master the dungeon.

The 10-Step Resolution Pipeline

Whenever an action is taken, the engine evaluates it in this exact order:

  • 1. Initiation:
The engine checks the skill type. Physical attacks use your ATK, while spells and heals use your Magic Attack.
  • 2. Accuracy vs. Evasion:
Your Hit Chance (calculated from raw Accuracy and delivery bonuses) rolls against the target's Evasion %. If the attack misses or is dodged, the entire pipeline stops here.
  • 3. Base Power:
Your core stat is multiplied by the skill's power multiplier to establish the raw, unmitigated impact of the attack.
  • 4. Vulnerability & Exploitation:
The engine checks if the target is suffering from a specific status ailment that the skill can "consume" or exploit for a massive damage spike.
  • 5. The Critical Roll:
Your Crit Chance is evaluated. If you have stacked enough Fortune to exceed 100% Crit Chance, the engine will attempt to upgrade the strike into a Super Crit (1.5x) or a devastating Mega Crit (2.5x).
  • 6. Elemental Affinities:
If your attack possesses an Element (e.g., Fire, Holy) and the target is weak to it, the damage is multiplied by 1.5x.
  • 7. Mitigation (Defenses & Penetration):
The raw damage collides with the enemy's DEF or Mag Res. If you have Armor Penetration or Magic Penetration, it shreds their defenses here before the K-Curve reduces your damage.
  • 8. The Block:
The defender rolls their Block Chance (derived from Might, Finesse, and Fortune). If successful, the incoming mitigated damage is instantly cut in half (-50%).
  • 9. Healing Resolution:
If the action was a restorative spell rather than an attack, your Healing Power multiplier is applied here to finalize the amount of HP restored to the target.
  • 10. Post-Processing (Vampirism):
Finally, any Lifesteal or Spell Vamp effects are calculated based on the exact final damage dealt, returning health to the attacker.

Threat & Positioning

Enemies aren't mindless; they attack the biggest target. Every hero generates Threat based on their class, traits, and gear. Positioning multiplies this Threat: the Front Row generates +20% Threat (perfect for Tanks), while the Back Row generates -20% Threat (ideal for fragile Mages).
