Building Your Party
A lone hero is a dead hero. Victory belongs to those who build wisely.
Five souls stand between you and the abyss. Each must fulfill their purpose, or all shall fall. Before you recruit your first adventurer, understand the sacred balance of roles—for a party without a tank crumbles, and a party without a healer bleeds out in the dark.
🎭 Party Roles
Every hero fulfills one of four sacred roles. A balanced party needs the right mix to survive.
- 🛡️ Tank — Absorbs damage and protects allies. Draws enemy attacks with high threat. Examples: Squire, Defender, Duelist
- ⚔️ DPS — Deals maximum damage to enemies. Comes in many styles: burst, area-of-effect, evasion-based. Examples: Scout, Cutpurse, Mystic, Adept
- ✨ Healer — Restores HP and removes harmful effects. Essential for sustained dungeon runs. Examples: Acolyte, Initiate
- 🔱 Support — Provides buffs, debuffs, and crowd control. Enhances the entire party's effectiveness. Examples: Minstrel, Tinkerer
📍 Battle Positions
Heroes fight from three positions, determining who takes damage first and the turn order.
| Position | Danger Level | Typical Roles |
|---|---|---|
| Front | Highest — takes most hits | Tanks, Bruisers |
| Middle | Moderate — balanced threat | DPS, Support |
| Back | Lowest — safest position | Healers, Ranged DPS |
Tip: Your highest-threat heroes should be in the Front to draw enemy attacks away from your healers and DPS.
⚖️ The Golden Ratio
For a party of 5 heroes, follow this distribution:
| Composition | Tanks | Healers/Support | DPS |
|---|---|---|---|
| Balanced | 1-2 | 1-2 | 2-3 |
| Aggressive | 1 | 1 | 3 |
| Defensive | 2 | 2 | 1 |
Why This Matters:
- Too few tanks = your backline dies to stray attacks
- Too few healers = no sustain for long dungeon runs
- Too few DPS = enemies outlast your resources
⚔️ Recommended Starter Parties
These compositions use Tier 1-2 classes available early in the game.
Party 1: "The Vanguard"
| Hero | Role | Position | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| 🛡️ Defender | Tank | Front | Primary tank, holds the line |
| ⚔️ Squire | Bruiser | Front | Off-tank with lifesteal, adds damage |
| ✝️ Acolyte | Healer | Back | Keeps the party alive |
| 🗡️ Cutpurse | DPS | Middle | High crit, evasion-based damage |
| 🏹 Scout | DPS | Middle | Ranged damage, nature/poison |
Why It Works: Double frontliners (Defender + Squire) share the damage load. Acolyte provides consistent healing. Cutpurse and Scout deal damage from safer middle positions. Both tanks share the Earth tag for potential synergy.
Party 2: "The Choir"
| Hero | Role | Position | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| 🛡️ Defender | Tank | Front | Pure tank, holds all aggro |
| ✝️ Acolyte | Healer | Back | Primary healing |
| 🎸 Minstrel | Support | Middle | Buffs party with songs |
| 🗡️ Cutpurse | DPS | Middle | Evasion DPS, benefits from buffs |
| 🏹 Scout | DPS | Middle | Ranged damage |
Why It Works: Minstrel's song buffs enhance the entire party's performance. Acolyte + Minstrel provide double backline support. Cutpurse and Scout benefit greatly from Minstrel's speed buffs.
🔓 Recommended First Unlocks
Prioritize these unlocks to build a solid foundation for your dungeon runs:
| Role | Recommended Class | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 🛡️ Tank | Defender | Pure tank with highest threat generation. Unlocks with Iron Shield. |
| ✨ Healer | Acolyte | Primary healer with Holy spells. Unlocks with Holy Symbol. |
| ⚔️ DPS | Scout or Mystic | Scout for ranged physical damage, Mystic for AoE magic. Both are Tier 1 starters. |
Tip: Unlock Defender and Acolyte first—they form the backbone of any successful party. Then add Scout or Mystic for damage output.
The dungeon tests all who enter. Build your party with purpose, and the depths shall bow before you.
